The latest

The latest is actually OLD HAT...I wrote this when Ava was almost a week old. I never posted it but saved it as a draft. Since I took the time to write, here it is.

I'm not sure when you can make the offical call on a baby about their temperment but so far at one week old Miss Ava is a pretty easy going girl. She has her diva moments and things she doesn't like and will scream to a point of almost holding her breath if we don't attend to her right away. Some of her not so favorite things include taking a bath and having to wait a split second when she is hungry. She also gets a little fussy when she is awake and ready to go back to sleep. She already sleeps through the night for about 7 hours every night. She's starting to stay awake more often during the day for short spurts of 1-1.5 hours but the majority of her time is spent sleeping.
Ty likes to feed her a bottle and will hold her but only for a moment then he says she's too heavy (she is almost a 1/3 of his weight!!) One time I make a comment how she was looking at the stripes on Jeff's shirt and since then Ty likes for me to dress him in stripe shirts then he'll lay beside her on the floor when she's awake and let her look at his shirt. Another one of his favorite things is when she's laying on the floor and she starts to root to eat, he'll put his face up to her and laughs as she sucks on his cheek.
On the Ty side...things have gotten a little bit on the rough side starting about Monday. I know and expected an adjustment phase to all of this but I was secretly hoping that Ty would bypass it. He is totally in love with Ava and sticks closely to her side and is protective of her. I teased him the other day saying it was time to take Ava back to the hospital for another families turn with her and he was heartbroken and tears started forming in his eyes. (It was a mean joke..not one of my proud motherhood moments). He said he wants Ava to be in our family FOREVER. And then at church tonight a friend was holding her and teased Ty that she was going to take Ava home with her and she started walking out with Ava. I wasn't paying much attention and Ty started screaming telling her to stop and calling out my name for help in the situation. Atleast he wants her to stick around.
But the sweet tempered boy is now throwing these toddler fits and arguing over EVERYTHING. I've been emotional about it all becasue I do feel sorry for him I know it has to be such tide wave to his life.

When the fits happen just remember him wanting to wear the striped shirts- that is the sweetest thing ever!
