Today was western day at Ty's school and the kids put on a square dance performance. It was so cute.. so CUTE that at one point I CRIED! He has been dreading today for quite some time because he didn't want to square dance in front of everyone. This isn't typical of his out going personality, he said it was because square dancing is boring.I think it was because he didn't want to mess up and everyone would see it..he's my little perfectionist. To add flame to the fire, he was disappointed that I wouldn't buy him cowboy boots so he didn't want to dress-up in any western wear. At the last minute he changed his mind so we dug out some gear from our costume bucket, put on a leather belt and a pair of Levi's The "cowboy" clothes were a Christmas gift from my parents several Christmas ago and very a little small. I'm not down with the cowboy dress code, so I'm not sure at what point chaps are considered high waters. But I'm pretty sure that are NOT supposed to only go half way down your leg. Either way he looked so cute, I just wanted to squeeze him in half.
He was very excited to see us at his school. The boy LOVES to show off his sisters. All his classmates just ohh and ahh over Ali "the baby." For most of the dances he had no facial expression and even tripped up over his feet on one. At one point he mouthed to me that his nose was bleeding and asked for a wipe. I'm pretty sure he had been picking it... just mining for gold! Half way through the program they invited the parents and sibling to join in for one day. Of course we went out and I made a fool of myself and in the sake of fun. The very last song was the tear jerker. The kids slow danced to one of my favorite lonestar songs. He twirled his partner around the floor in the process knocked off her hats..it was priceless. It's going to be such a sweet memory.
I managed to record it all on a video camera for Jeff, I can't wait to watch it with him toight.
My shy girl Ava stepping into the kindergarden circle (wedging Ty out) and dancing to her own beat.
Here Ty is trying to "assist" Ava in the dance moves.
This song was "Tony Chestnut knows I love you" -"toe, knee, chest, nut, nose, eye, love, love, you"
Ty's been singing it at the dinner table for weeks now. It's a really cute song.
Ty and his partner McKayla. Some official photographer took there picture at this point (for the newspaper I think). They both looked cute all decked out.
Slow dancing to a sweet LoneStar song
This picture is just sweet to me. Actually it's the story behind the picture. Ty let Ava wear his hat so of course she jumped on it. Then he stepped out of his class circle to show Ava some of his dance moves. They really do delight in each others presence.
