While we all remained safe and cozy miles away from Ike I can't say the same for the house we were living in. (HISTORY: The house is actually Jeff's parent's house. They moved a little over a month ago. We were renting out the house while doing the up keep and showing it to potential buyers) The kids and I stay are still at my parents while Jeff headed down to Houston to access the damage to the house. The house is only 30 miles from the coast and the wind hit it hard blowing off shingles on the roof. Apparently causing the ceiling to cave in different parts of the house. It left behind a lot of water damage. The parts of the ceiling that fell down really were the best part of the house, if you had to pick one, leaving the bedrooms untouched. I'm not really tied to an possession that I have. But it does put a cramp in our style and makes us temporarily homeless until the repairs are done. My parents are keeping Flash, our dog, in foster care (the fence blew away) and we'll probably be shacking up with my sister Christina until the house is fixed and liveable again. What do people without families do? I sure do LOVE our FAMILY!
After cleaning out the house and mess from the hurricane Jeff said it's given him a new appreciation for the vicitoms of Katrina and all the work that goes into rebuilding after such devistation.

April, I am so sorry to hear this. I know that it is only possessions but with little kids being displaced is very hard on everyone. I will be thinking about you and Jeff and the hassle of Ike. If you ever need a road trip come to Dallas, we could show you a great time.
Whit
I'm so sorry to hear about your house. I hope the clean up goes well and you won't be "homeless" for long. :)
Oh April - we will keep you in our thoughts/prayers - hopefully you all won't be displaced too terribly long.
I will offer Salt Lake to you, too...you all are always welcome for a visit! (Though it would be more fun during ski season :o))
