Glued Eyes

My eyes have been glued to the news and the coverage of hurricane IKE. Interesting, even though I can't do anything about it I still can't help but to continue to watch the t.v. It reminds me of how I reacted to 9-11 several years ago. For days I couldn't stop watching the news coverage.
As I'm watching the coverage in Galveston, I have mixed emotions about all the people that ignored the warnings and mandatory evacuations and stayed behind. The news reported that 60% of the residents stayed in Galveston (I don't know if that is Galveston Island or Galveston County). My honest to goodness reaction is to just call them stupid. And those with small children that stayed, fills me with an emotion in me that makes me want to punch their face in. As I watch Ty and Ava and think how incapable they would be able to survive a flooding and the conditions they are predicting, seriously why chance it? I know at one point they were threatening to arrest parents who didn't follow the mandatory evacuation, saying they were committing child endangerment. Listening to the news, I'm am loving the reporters that are CHEWING OUT the callers that have stayed in Galveston and calling them out on their decision. I guess I'm in the mentality "I'd rather be safe then sorry". I really don't care what the reasons are that people give in staying behind in Galveston, I have a strong feeling that rescue workers are going to be putting their lives at risk to save these people.

i just don't know what to say... I agree 110% with you on this... People can be so selfish and stupid and those with children, I can't believe they would think to do this... Unless they have an ARK, HEAD NORTH!

Oh April, when it came through here and was still so strong, I kept thinking how thankful I was that you and Julie got out of its way! Oh my goodness, that is beyond my comprehension that the ceiling caved in! Thank God you weren't there, but wow, what a mess!
