Birthday Bash!

The Mack Truck cake

This weekend was Ty's big birthday bash! It worked out perfect having it at my parents house...Jeff's parents and sisters were going to be in the B-town area for a church reunion celebration. Ty's 2 worlds collidated with all of his favorite people at the backyard cookout. Jeff's whole family came as well as my parents and sister, Jennifer and her family, and we also invited some close friends of both of our families (who watched us grow up as kids). It was a great get together with lots of laughter and fellowship. Ty delighted being the center of attention and finally being 3 just like cousin Levi. We had a Disney Cars theme birthday party. In the above picture ,Ty's had just opened up a Cars t-shirt present (pictured below) and was so exicted about it that he ripped off his clothes in the middle of opening up his presents (in the middle of everyone) to wear his new shirt:) I had the best time being creative, with my moms help, to make make at Ty's request a "MACK TRUCK" cake from the cars movie. I thought I could make this baby in no time but I winded up spending all day on the project. It was an Italian Cream Cake with cream cheese icing (the perfected recipe my mom had dicovered in making my brothers wedding cake) ...not your typical preschool birthday cake...but it was YUMMY!

Ty's loves to blow out my candles at home so I thought it would be funny to get him some trick candles that would keep relighting. I put 2 regular candles and 1 trick candle on the cake expect all the candles blew out. I winded up relighting the candles 3 times and singing happy birthday each time and last time the candle started playing tricks. It was fun for some good laughs. Ty loved blowing the candles out so many times and all the times we sang happy birthday to him... and by the 3 time asked if he could sing with us.

When I was a kid they didn't make toys like these...or at least I never got any. That is what grandparents are for..right? My parents got Ty his very own Fisher Price digital camera. It takes actual photos and has an LCD screen to view the pictures after they are taken.
Ty took pictures on and off to document his birthday from the eyes of a 3 year old. You would be surprised at how good some the ones he took turned out. I'll share them with you some time.

Daddy and Mommy with the birthday boy.

For weeks I make him wait until his birthday to open his Cars party decorations. He would beg to open them or wear one of the hats... so when his birthday finally came I opened them up and let him eat and drink off of the party deocration all day. For lunch I put down a cars table cloth and put his food out with all the decorations. Later that night I told him it was time to change clothes and get dressed for him birthday party he told me, "but mommy I already had my birthday party." He thought eating lunch with all the decorations up was the real thing. I think he was happily surprised to experience the real party later that night.

Celebrating in style all day with grandpa

Here he is posing with the cars get-up (and the special balloons that daddy got for him).

Here he is opening his presents. Later that night he came over to Jeff and told him, "thanks for coming to my party daddy!"

Today he asked me is he was still 3 years olds...yes, my little baby boy is 3 still 3 years old. I only cried once yesterday...but I'll save that story for another day.
