Our time in Salt Lake City is wrapping up as Jeff completes his first independent tour. He had rave reviews from the schools and his boss (who joined us part of the week for a “progress report”). Ty and I had no means of transportation so our exploration of the city was on foot. Let me just say this I LOVE NOT WORKING!! A few days we laid low in the hotel while I worked on school work but the majority of the time we were out and about. On Monday I got lost and winded up running into a “family fun center” Ty and I strolled up just as it was opening. It was awesome!! It had a blow-up bounce zone, a skating ring (that you could take ANYTHING with wheels on it), dime arcade kids games, and a snack bar. It only cost $5 to bounce and skate ALL DAY. Ty and I camped out there for 7 hours, he even took a 2 hour nap on one of the tables. While he slept I showed off my roller skating skills. Mainly it was me and a 70 year old man rollerblading (who showed me up BIG TIME) to loud music and disco lights. Tuesday we walked to a near by shopping strip and found OLD NAVY. I should have controlled myself more but there was a HUGE sale on men’s clothing stuff for $2 and $3. Now I’m not sure if it’s all going to made it back in the suitcases. Wednesday was homework day and we played around at the hotel. Thursday we went to SUPER TARGET and I bought more stuff that that was on clearance. I can’t resist a good bargain even if I don’t need it. Then we hit the mall so Ty could play at the dinosaur themed playground. We went to eat a Fuddruckers for dinner then Jeff took Ty to Chucky Cheese while I came back to the hotel to watch the season premiere of Grey’s Anatomy. And today is Friday, I think we’re going to lay low and I’ll work on some more homework and manipulate all of my new treasures into the 6 suitcase we brought (I admit I know how to pack light, I just choose not to). Jeff doesn’t have any shows this afternoon so when he gets back we plan on going to the Temple Square and tour the Mormon Tabernacle. Our flight leaves tomorrow around 10 and that will conclude our 1st week on tour as a family. Our next tour is set for Corpus Christi at the end October it a 2 weeker. In conclusion of this week I have made a list of my top ten things about being on tour
10. Exploring a new city
9. Sleeping in- the first couple of days I was on my work routine waking up at 6:00am (which was actually 5 am since SLC is an hour behind)
8. Eating out (AKA I don’t have to cook) Jeff gets so much expense money on his tours to feed the family. When we arrived on Sunday we went to target and bought groceries for the week. I would pack Jeff’s lunch forhim to take with him, and at night we would go some where fun as a family.
7. Out of season shopping- the weather in SLC is crisp and cool. It’s the completely opposite from Texas weather. Therefore all of the summer clothing is on a huge clearance.
6. The heated in door swimming pool. Ty swam every day.
5. Taking a bath shower for as long as I want without ever having to run out of hot water. (those of you who don’t know this is where you sit down in the bath tube and just let the shower run on you… it is my ultimate stress relief)
4. The amenities- since we are moving soon we’ve already had our cable and internet turned off. But we get fee service with the room at the hotel
3. Breakfast in bed- they offer a continental breakfast that is delicious. We would get it and bring it back to our room and watch cartoons while we ate in bed.
2. HOUSEKEEPING SERVICE- I leave for the day with the hotel room a wreck and come back to it being spotless, without ever having to lift a finger. They even wash the dishes which is the #1 thing I HATE to clean.
1. Not having to be at work and hangin out with the coolest 2 year old in the world

Oh, I love that for you! All that Mommy time and not having to be away from Jeff. How cool is that? Several of the business trips with Philip have had those same perks for me (except that they don't pay for my food and such - just Philip's, which is still half-price for traveling the country!) It's awesome! I didn't realize dishes was your least favorite, too. No wonder they always piled up in our apartment. Haha! Love ya.
You're making me jealous! Maybe Cory could be Jeff's apprentice and we'll join the pros too. :)
April, what is your email or phone number I would love to contact you. Whit
You'd better come see me! You can't back out now that you've mentioned it. And I would love it if you stayed a while. Let me know what dates you're thinking so I can rearrange my work schedule, now that I'm a working girl! I start orientation tomorrow....wish me luck.
