monthly review

I have no real reason for my lack of blogging, I guess I could just say LIFE happened.
And so much life has happened I don’t even know where to start.
This past month has brought about a booming amount of changed for both of my kiddos.
Since I last posted Ava was just beginning to crawl, and 2 weeks later she started pulling up and crushing along the couches. For a while her main mission in life was to crawl to a location so she could pull up on it and start walking around it. Back then she didn’t know how to “dismount” from pulling up and would usually wind up just letting go and falling backwards landing flat on her head slamming her head to the floor. Can you picture the high piercing scream? Those were some rough days. It was impossible to keep her down and off of things and I was seriously thinking about buying her a tiny baby helmet.
Thankfully those days are over and she has figured out how to get from standing to sitting without a head injury. She has also started sitting up on her knees and can stand alone in for about 3-5 seconds. Can you tell this little girl doesn’t want to stay little?
She already tries to take part in feeding herself grabbing spoons from her bowl and attempting to feed herself. She cut her 3rd tooth last week and shows no shame trying to sharpen it on my arm or nose. One of my favorite things she does is blowing “farts” on my stomach. She has started saying “mamama” and “dadadada” I would like to think she is saying my name because on numerous occasions she has looked right at me and said “mamama” when she wants me to hold her. But realistically she says it when she wants something, she can get pretty chatty. My biggest struggle with her is getting to NOT stand up in her crib and the bath tub. It used to be so easy to put her to bed, I would lay her down and give her the pasey, give her a few pats on the back and tell her “night-night.” And that was it! But the past few weeks since she started pulling up as soon as I lay her down she immediately pulls up on the crib. I’m going bonkers not getting enough sleep. When she is mad she does this little gremlin smile and voice that is pretty freaky but it makes me bust out laughing. She’s learning to be more cautious of Ty, he loves her and never intentionally hurts her but it does happen… often. She is becoming a little momma girl. She will go to anyone and be content but when she is tired (and can see me) she only wants her momma. Ty was a daddy’s boy so secretly I love that there are times she only wants me. I favorite part is that she is a happy girl, she is giving with her smiles and little giggles.
My main man Ty is growing like a weed and going 100 miles and hour. Our biggest struggle is getting him to sit still and focus long enough to eat. His imagination is bursting making everything a toy from a carrot stick to his napkin. I love this part of childhood. He is still in LOVE with superheroes which includes anything that slightly resembles a superhero. He is constantly learning and soaking up everything around him. Later he will ask me, mommy remember when….? He idealizes Jeff and everything he says especially when it comes to sports. Last weekend was his last baseball game. Jeff and my brother-in-law co-coached the team. Since Jeff and Cory coached we got to pull some strings at the YMCA and get a Christopher, Chloe, Ty and Levi all on the same team. Christopher and Chloe are twins who Ty considers his “best friends” along with a Levi and Keenly. It was a fun season watching them play together. I think Ty had a great time but the child is so carefree there were many times he was picking the flowers or spinning in circles. He is just not in that competitive mode, I’m sure it is due to the fact he is only 3! It does amaze me how fast he picks up on things. A few weeks ago I sat him down to see how many letters of the alphabet he knew. I told him that for every letter he got right I would give him a little smarty…the kid knew every single letter expect 2. And he even knows all the lower cases! Talk about a shocker to a clueless momma. I’ve been putting off doing “home school” for about 10 months and was starting to feel guilty that he didn’t know certain things. I guess it goes to show kids really do soak up knowledge.
Now he is trying to spell things, he usually is FAR from being right but just the idea that he is trying to put the letters go together is pretty impressive.

The sweetest thing about Ty is that he still loves Ava. The newness of his baby sister hasn’t worn out. He likes to help feed her baby food and break off pieces of his food to give to her. He still constantly asks to hold her (although she’s not really into having him hold her). When she is “in trouble” or according to Ty, getting into something she shouldn’t he will pick her up and remover her from the situation. He likes me to put her in the bumbo chair close to him while he plays so they can play together. I think he wants her in the restraining chair so she can’t crawl around and mess up his play. Either way, they both love it and I think it is really sweet.

I think that pretty much sums up the kids for the past month.
I’ll let the pictures tell the rest.

WOW, what a summary! :) For some reason I thought Ty was 4 and Ava is getting so big she looks older also. Thanks for posting all the pictures. They were really cute. I love Ty's sunglasses...they are the best! :)
