We are serious about dressing up in costumes at our house. So as you can imagine Halloween is a highly anticipated day of the year. For the past 3 Halloweens Ty and Ava have dressed in theme and last year we added Ali to the mix. This year it became a little more tricky as Ty had his own opinion on what he wanted to wear. With a saddened heart they are no longer in them. I strongly encouraged Ty to pick a costume from one he already had and then I would let him accessorize with some new toys from the dollar store. It took a trip to Target and seeing some cool new ninja swords and the boy was talking me into buying them to complete his Ninja costume at home. Of course I gave into the $5 accessory verses $20-$30 for a new costume. Can you tell I'm trying to do Halloween on a limited budget. Ava is not really into princesses or animals so dressing up in one of those was uninviting to her. However she does love Minnie Mouse. I found some fabric on sale and spent $3.50 to make her a little circle skirt and bought a black leotard for $4.50 at a resale shop. We already had Mickey Mouse hands and ears and some really big cartoon shoes (we have acquired a lot of costumes over Ty's years). I finished sewing the skirt tonight and tried on a rough draft of everything, she was so excited! I still need to make a Minnie bow in go in her ears and possibly some bloomers to go under her skirt like Minnie, but she already looks really cute!! I struggled to think of a costume idea for Ali. What I've decided is to have her go as a scrambled egg. The little girl loves eggs and would eat them 3 times a day, she was my inspiration. I haven't completed Ali's costume but I spent $1.50 on fabric and will probably wind up spending another $3-4 to finish it up. I was wanting to stay under $20 for costumes for all the kids and it looks like I will. I feel like I'm bringing it old school making and sewing costumes but the reality is that I love it. The only problem is the my creative ideas are usually bigger and better then my skill level, that can get frustrating.
WORD ON THE STREET- I have used all my quota of free picture storage space on blogger. For a long time I was unable to upload pictures...which then prolonged my posts. What I have recently realized is that I was out of blog space. Fortunately for you I bought some more space however now I'm having technical errors. They have withdrawn the money from my account, just not credited my blog with the space...SO AHHH! Frustrating. Just picture my sweet Ava girl looking like Minnie mouse below:)

You can run out of blog space!??!?! I haven't heard of this. Are you sure you weren't scammed or hacked???? YIKES!!
Apparently you can only use 1 free GB of photo space. If you use more then that you have to buy it. Over the years of having a blog...I have finally met my quota of 1 GB.
What a CROCK.
Man, you're so good at putting your creativity and skills to work for you! But what in the world? You can tease us like that and then NOT have a picture! :)
Can't wait to see it when all the technical mumbo jumbo gets worked out.
I thought about you guys on Halloween. How do you handle a holiday that is all about accumulating excessive amounts of candy?
