I started this post about a month ago when I came home from Ty's 1st parent/teacher conference and never finished it, and after getting Ty's 1st report card home today I though it was about time I did a little bragging on him. Jeff is out of town this week so as I called him to give him the scoop on Ty's report card...I started crying. Seriously I was just so proud of him. On his report card he mastered all the skills that aren't required of him until the end of the year. Not only that, he recieved the citizenship award in his class for the 1st 6 weeks. He said he was the only kid in his class to get it. Seriously I am so proud!
Funny story. Knowing that starting school would bring up the whole girl/boy issue I had told Ty that he wasn’t allowed to have a girlfriend until he was 13 and he won’t be able to date until he got his drivers license. Call me old fashioned, I am! ANYWAYS after the first couple of days of school he was only telling me about boys that were his friends and so one day I asked him, “ Ty do you have any girlfriends,” he says to me, “ Mom you said I’m not allowed to have girlfriends.” So then I had to explain to him the difference in having a “girlfriend” and having a girl that is a friend.
A few weeks back I went to Ty’s school to eat lunch with him. Afterwards, another mom came up to me and told me her daughter said Ty was one of her boyfriends. I asked Ty about it and he got upset saying she was lying and not telling the truth.
He will talk to me about anything but when it comes to girls he does get shy about the subject and says, “I don’t want to talk about it mom.” He’s a typically guy not wanting to talk about his feelings. Ha!
Alive at Five:
Where he spends most his time: He steps on the school bus at 8:15 and steps off after 4.
Then the remainder of the day is spent at the house playing with his sisters. I want him to keep the bond with his sisters and play with them when he gets home. On Fridays he gets to play outside with all the neighbor kids.
What he is in to: He still loves his classic cars and blocks and playing with them daily. He loves to climb trees, poles, my walls (seriously did this one the other day)..he has always been a climber and still is. In the summer time he loves to swim and be in the water. He likes to play baseball and has gotten really good at catching and hitting. Overall I would say he is athletic, one of those types that seems to be good at any sports he plays. And has the competive nature that WANTS to be good at every sport he plays.
Brother love: He really is an awesome brother. ANYTIME he is around Ali she will focus only on him and follow him with her eyes and he is the only one that can get her to belly laugh. Ava copies his every move and my favorite sound is to hear them playing sweetly together (which doesn't alway happen as often as I would perfer). Last Sunday I was teaching the Bible Hour at our church and while Ava isn't old enough to be in there, I let her stay. Ty was excited to have her and played the big brother role by holding her in his lap the whole time and taking her to the potty when she needed to go...he WANTED to do these things. Yesterday he asked me if I was going to have any more babies saying, "You know I just love babies mom, I want you to have lots of them!"
His new obsession is drawing and writing. He draws pictures constantly and has just started to write out sentences about them. He loves to do art and has got his creative flare from me.
His favorite girl at school is Isabella because she can draw cool pictures.
I love this kid inspite of all the discipline horizons he is forcing me into, the pest and tease he can be to Ava, the arguments he battles, his non stop energy, his ability to always be touching/hitting someone/some thing, or for ways he is streching as a parent.

And for your veiwing pleasure some pictures of the Ty man over the past 6mns.
I love the sock off this
little kid!

(Oh, and I like the Anne reference! Miss you.)
I would like for us to set up an arrangment for Anna and Ty to marry at Harding their senior year... What is that called? Betrothed? Lion King?
