JANUARY 5TH

1. Its means Jeff and I have been married for 6 years
The fun part of living close to family is getting to use and abuse them for free childcare. Jeff and I celebrated our anniversary for 1.5 straight days. Thursday night we put Ty to bed at Chris and Cory’s house and took Ava with us to a late movie (she fell asleep shortly after it started). Friday we left both kids and made an all day event of just being together. First we had breakfast at Chick-fil-a (their chicken biscuits are my favorite breakfast aside from strawberry pancakes with cool wip). Then we played 18 holes of golf together. On our honeymoon we played golf so Jeff tries to work it in every year. I really do enjoy playing I’m the one who actually got him hooked because I used to play in high school. Then we did a little clothes shopping for myself
We came back and showered off and got fabulous. We went to a comedy improv place called Comedy Sports. It was hilarious!! Seriously there were times I was laughing so hard my abs hurt. I was good clean fun without anything inappropriate or crude you could bring your kids to it if you wanted…actually there was a girl there who looked about 10 years old. Jeff and I plan on going back again soon. The night was topped off with dessert at the cheesecake factory at 11pm at night. But I got to tell you this was the biggest disappointed of the day. I’ve only eaten at one of these once in my lifetime and it instantly became my favorite restaurant. The first time I went I had a strawberry dessert that melted in my mouth. That was about 6 months ago and I’ve been craving that dessert ever since. With high hopes I ordered the strawberry cheesecake only to find it was just a plain cheese cake with 3 strawberries to the side. The waiter graciously took it back and let me get something different. So I order the strawberry shortcake. I was wrong again. Seriously you can not even imagine my disappointment….especially over the fact that the shortcake was disguising. It tasted like a cold biscuit with ice cream and strawberries. I mellowed in my sorrow and ate my $7 strawberries leaving the rest for the trash…BUMMER! I know it sounds awful that I got so upset about dessert but you just have to know that all day was about Jeff and doing the stuff Jeff enjoyed doing (I mean I loved the golfing and comedy thing, and I guess the shopping was for me) BUT this was the ONE thing planned for my benefit…and it was a BUST. I’m still not over it
BUT what a wonderful day it was! Ohhhh, to remember the glory days “pre-kid” and the ability the come and go as we please. But then again I wouldn’t give it up…I love being a mommy.

2. Ava is officially 1/2 a year old.

I love this little girl. She is full of grins and giggles. We feel so blessed to have 2 happy kids. Both of them were such delightful smiley babies. 6 months is my absolute favorite baby stage and I’m loving her little personality that’s starting to evolve.

3. This is the day Cory and Christina leave for Brazil and I start watching their 2 boys plus my 2 kids. I’ll be a single mother of 4 for 8.5 days!
They left at 4:30 this morning. I watch her kids often when she goes to work so it’s really no big deal to have them. Of course I’ve never had them for 8 days in a row but I’ve got it all planned out. I’ll wear out the boys and let them play hard all day then put them to bed early and get a little R & R to myself before I do it again. So far there has only been 1 mishap. Ty was trying to get himself some water and he dropped the glass (yes it was an actual glass) I heard it shatter from up stairs, followed by a sound of running up the stairs and swift apologizing. I was tending to other matters so I told him not to touch it and to go outside until I got a chance to clean it up. I came down stairs a few minutes later to find glass shatter ALL over the kitchen and outside. Apparently the boys took my “don’t touch it” to mean pick it up and throw it EVERY WHERE! After the BIBG clean up. We are now back on track and hope that was the biggest mishap of the week. (Sorry about the glass Chris)
