one TOUGH cookie

Ty’s been down an out for the past week while we were in Baton Rouge. The trip was a bust as Ty and I camped out in the hotel room “resting.” On Wednesday he started running a high fever and complained about his head hurting but after some Tylenol and a nap he was up and running around again. In the past I’ve taken him to the doctor at the first sign of a fever and but 95% of the time they would say it was just a virus and I would have to wait it out. Before we rushed to the doctor this time I thought we would wait it out a bit and see if he got better. He started to show some improvement on Friday but by Saturday night he was down and out again. When we made it to town I spent some time on the phone Monday morning trying to get him a doctors appointment… I had no idea it was so impossible to get a doctors appointment on a Monday. The earliest available was this morning at 9:15. However when we woke up this morning Ty was feeling great and was FULL of energy I thought about canceling this he was over the worst of it. But we went anyways and I nominated myself the worst mother of the week.
The doctor said it looked like he was getting over strep throat, he had the flu, bronchitis, walking pneumonia, and a severe ear infection (he said on a scale of 1-4…4 being his ear drum is about to burst…Ty was at a solid 3). In utter shock I was almost laughing at how sick the little burger actually is, on and off he’ll act like he doesn’t feel good but nothing that pointed to all of this. The doctor said Ty was one tough cookie and was surprised at how cheerful and active he was.
He said he could order a strep test, chest X-ray, blood culture and the works but it wouldn’t change how he was going to medicate and treat him. The doctor put him on a strong antibiotic and told us to come back in few days if he’s not feeling better and they would do all the tests and more intensive treatments (alluding to hospitalizing him). All of this makes me nervous… I didn’t know he was that sick in the first place. I’m asking for prayers over my little man that he not only acts better but is actually getting better.

Their pain tolerance is amazing!! I hope your little man is feeling better in no time! Good drugs and lots of rest.... usually works for my crew!

ps - Bryson ruptured 3 ear drums in his first year of life (he now has tubes and it much better) I never even knew that he had an ear infection bc he wasnt fussy... anyways, they had me use a warm compress (wet washcloth in the the microwave for a few seconds) for the pain, and it would soothe him almost immediately. You might try it if Ty seems to be in pain with the ear stuff... just a little side note from "dr.mom"
