To cut to the chase. I started a new job 2 weeks ago. I am working for the school district as a Director over an Early Learning Center. It's a center that is open only to full time employees of the school district.
The biggest perk to the job is that I get to be with my girls! (Ava goes free and Ali is half off!) While financially, I can no longer be a "stay at home mom" or even work part time (like I did last year)... I believe this just might be the best of both worlds. The girls and I both get the chance to socialize and "play" with friends... and I get paid for it! This is a perfect transition year for Ava as she is gaining confidence and coming out of her shell.
The center is small and is only for ages 2-5. It has and open floor concept so I can sit at my desk and look to the right and see Ava and look to the left and see Ali (she usually gives me a sweet wave and smile). During the day, I spend time in both of their classrooms and love that I get to be so involved in their day. Another perk is that my staff is awesome (basically hand picked from my previous job within the school district).
I have pulled a lot of long days so far as I learning all my responsibilities, and have spent the weekends writing curriculum. The perks are worth the price!
